Kanye speaks on the behalf of young rapper/producer Soulja Boy.
"Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain't Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain't even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it's 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning... that's Nas level shit... he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track "Silent Murder" on it. In closing... new niggas get ya money$$ Keep this shit fresh and original.... ain't no fuckin' rules to this shit and that's what real hip hop is to me."
Hey, ya'll know how I feel about Soulja Boy and Kane couldn't be more right. I don't particually have Soulja Boy's record in rotation, but you can't hate on the kid. He's a millionaire before 20!! And what makes it funny, he's a millionaire off of that stupid shit called "YULLLE!" HAHA! Funny story, do you all even know where he got that from? LOL! If your from Atlanta, you know...
Man, you gotta love it..

I agree with Kanye. I'm tired of the "rules" and definitions. Hip Hop isn't about conformity.
couldnt agree more with mr. west...
by the way what does yuuuule mean?
always wanted to know...
although i can't hate on souljah boy for doing what he does (come on admit it, his songs are catchy for the clubs), but i disagree with him being called a real "artist" and/or taken seriously. to me, he's making money off of an art-form that was respectable and doesn't care what he's doing. that's not the main issue to me though, my little cousin says that's his favorite rapper, she's 9. now that to me is a problem, that there's a young audience out there that are influenced by this mockery. i'm scared to see what the future of hip-hop will become with people like him leading the pack. i think real lyricists who are real, educated, well-intentioned, and creative need to take the game back.
