A satirical New Yorker cover cartoon picturing Barack Obama in the Oval Office dressed as a Muslim, his wife as a terrorist, and a portrait of Osama bin Laden hanging over a fireplace with a burning American flag elicited angry responses yesterday from the Democrat's presidential campaign and his supporters. smh.
In their defense, they state, "The burning flag, the nationalist-radical and Islamic outfits, the fist-bump, the portrait on the wall? All of them echo one attack or another. Satire is part of what we do, and it is meant to bring things out into the open, to hold up a mirror to prejudice, the hateful, and the absurd. And that's the spirit of this cover," a New Yorker spokesman said in a written statement.

I believe everyone has the freedom of speech. This image brings forth that there are Americans in the US that think Obama is this person. That there are EXTREMELY ignorant people, especially in your own country. I was watching CNN headlines last week and they have this man travel that states and talking to people about the election. Not only was the interviewer, but also myself disgusted by the opinions of your fellow Americans. This CNN reporter was in Nashville and he spoke with an older woman about how she has always voted democratic, but this election she is going to vote republican. When asked why she was voting differently, she replied by saying that she doesn't want to vote for a Muslim. So I completely agree with this satire. This is the right perspective that Americans think that by voting Obama in, this is what is going to happen in the Oval office. Anyone who believes this, really should not have the right to vote. It's not the satirical cartoon that is the problem, but the views of many Americans who probably think like this woman does that need to be shaken silly until they see the real truth.
